Description

Crassula barklyi This small clumping Crassula is found in the Northern Cape Province in South Africa. They live in the rocky soils of Namaqualand, often found covered in quartzite sand that helps protect them from the sun. The stems consist of overlapping leaves that look like tiny little stacked tortoise shells or little alien worms rising up and out of the ground. The plants branch from the base to slowly form small clumps. They actively grow in spring and fall, and send out small white fragrant blooms in early winter. The flowers smell similar to a sweet jasmine. You'll receive the 1" rooted plant in the first six photos, bare-root, without soil or pot. The other photos are of my parent plant from which the plant offered here was propagated, and a flowering stem. For best growth Soil/Medium: coarse, well draining, cactus/succulent soil Light: minimum 3-4 hours of direct sun, preferably morning sun and afternoon shade Water: lightly every 2-3 weeks Crassula barklyi is a charming little succulent that’s easy to grow and does great in a small pot, perfect for a windowsill, and great in a garden rockery setting. This crassula can take more or less sun, but looks best when it receives a minimum amount of direct sun or really bright indirect or filtered sun. In less light the plant will be green and more elongate, and in more sun it will begin to bronze and maintain a more compact form. A rocky planting medium is best. This Crassula, like many, is easy to propagate, you just have to be patient because it is very slow growing. *Shipped USPS Ground Advantage, on Mondays, excluding holidays. *Usually arrives in 3-5 business days from shipment date, depending on destination. *Combined shipping is available, contact me with your request before purchasing. *No phytosanitary certificates or other documentation will be provided.
